Job Description:

The Exposure Interoperability Data Support Analyst will support the Federal Electronic Health Records Modernization (FEHRM) program office through the analysis and evaluation of data standards and their impact on the Federal EHR system.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination, among various stakeholder groups and processes towards the advancement of health IT standards.
  • Liaise with standards development organizations (SDOs) as FEHRM representation to advocate for the interests of the Departments and report information that could impact the implementation of the EHR product to relevant parties.
  • Review lengthy (healthcare (functional) and technical specifications and provide expert materials when casting standard ballots.
  • Provide input on proposed HL7 standards. You may be further asked to provide input on proposed changes to the SNOMED system to align with requirements from recent legislation.
  • Develop and review implementation guides in support of HL7 standards development processes.
  • Perform research on laws, policies and requirements related to health IT interoperability.
  • Produce slides and written documents to summarize status, results, methods and next steps for leadership, and perform related quality checks on written products.
  • Perform analyses related to artificial intelligence and the relevance to health IT standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional work experience is required
  • Knowledge of the IT standards development process and sensitivity to the downstream implications of changes to standards
  • Experience engaging with the HL7 organization
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing health IT balloting materials
  • Experience with IT standards such as: Experience and knowledge of healthcare standards details to find gaps and propose solutions. Standards include HL7, FHIR, USCDI, and X12
  • Experience in FHIR APIs and related ONC rules; Experience in FHIR specifications and writing implementation guides (IG), including FHIR resources

  • Ability to present standards information to a variety of audiences:
  • Ability to clearly communicate the benefits of IT standards to those outside the standards community
  • Experience in writing and presenting to publish standards specifications.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Science, Computer Engineering or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline, or 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in DOD, VA, or both
  • Understanding of the Federal interoperability environment and ability to identify gaps and opportunities to improve interoperability
  • Knowledge of Oracle Cerner capabilities, such as Cerner’s open platforms (Cerner Millennium®, HealtheIntent, CareAware®), Ignite APIs for Millennium, Open Engine, and OPENLink™
  • Knowledge of CommonWell Health Alliance
  • Interest in the intersections of artificial intelligence and health IT standards
  • Background in health informatics and familiarity with SNOMED
  • Interest in artificial intelligence and the intersections with health IT standards

Eligibility:

  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust clearance for this role

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the candidate’s specific combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.

Salary range: $110,000 - $125,000
