The Director of Construction and Facilities Management (DCF) will lead and manage all aspects of construction and facilities management for a growing fleet of autism centers. This role encompasses overseeing the development of new sites from inception through completion, as well as the ongoing maintenance and management of existing sites. This role works closely with external partners including landlords, architects, contractors, vendors, and municipalities while collaborating internally with cross functional teams to ensure projects meet quality, timeline and budget objectives.
The ideal candidate has expertise in construction project management across multiple states, experience navigating municipal zoning and permitting processes, facilities operations, value engineering and be adept at balancing external and internal demands.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership
- Oversee the execution phase of new site openings and relocations from start to finish ensuring all projects meet quality, timeline and budgetary requirements.
- Manage project budgets ensuring cost control and value engineering without compromising quality.
- Ensure program requirements and owner standards are met and recommend changes as needed.
- Track and evaluate project progress, cost, efficiency and redirect resources as needed.
- Construction Management
- Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously across various states working closely with landlords, contractors, sub-contractors and vendors.
- Review construction drawings and other documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Manage landlord and contractors work, schedules and contract obligations.
- Manage the design and installation of outdoor play spaces ensuring safety and functionality requirements are met.
- Monitor construction progress, identify and address risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Conduct all site inspections, facilitate space turnover to ensure operational readiness.
- Serve as the company on-site representative during inspections and handoffs.
- Lead the transition from construction to operational use ensuring all facilities meet company standards for functionality and aesthetics.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords, contractors, and property managers.
- Collaborate with internal cross functional teams to align construction plans with organizational needs
Facilities Oversight
- Support post-construction facility needs including punch list management and resolving outstanding issues.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors maintaining strong relationships to support current and future projects.
- Implement facility optimization and asset preservation strategies.
- Manage the workflow for preventative and reactive maintenance from request to resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience of corporate real estate experience in construction, project management and facility management for a national portfolio.
- Deep understanding of structural, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proven experience working with contractors, sub-contractors, and municipalities including zoning and permitting.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of working with diverse stakeholders including landlords, executive leaders and municipal boards.
- Ability to travel and work on site as needed to ensure project success.
- Experience in healthcare facilities a plus, but not required.
- Certification in project management (i.e. PMP) or facilities management (i.e. CFM) is a plus.
Basic & Physical Requirements
- Ability to maintain prolonged periods of working on a computer while sitting at a desk and attending virtual meetings
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing at least 30 pounds
- Ability to move around and inspect active construction sites, walking on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during site visits.
- Visual acuity to inspect detailed construction plans, site conditions and completed work.
- Clear verbal and auditory ability to communicate effectively with landlords, contractors, vendors and team members on active sites.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments that may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, construction dust and noise.
