Senior Data Engineer

It's with that in mind that Beyond is looking to add a Senior Data Engineer to our growing Engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experts from Revenue Management as well as data scientists to identify, design, test and implement improvements using a modern data processing workflow and tools. Because you will be working with a successful team that is completely remote, excellent coding and communication skills are key. As our Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with your peers from product, design, and engineering, and in particular fellow Data Scientists, on a cross-functional, outcome-based team to craft and deliver on OKRs
• Helping drive your team through large projects autonomously, while continuously assessing and communicating progress and iterating on solutions.
• Collaborating and recommending architectural solutions, while understanding and explaining trade-offs around time to market, structural and functional quality, security, maintainability, resources, and scope.
• Supporting and maintaining the existing code baseline and products.
• Exercising and improving Beyond’s engineering practices such as refactoring, pairing, code reviews, collective code ownership, containers, IaC, CI/CD, observability.
• Working with Beyond’s tech stack that includes: Python, Spark, Airflow, Delta Lake, Mode, Kafka, Postgres, Clickhouse Great Expectations

Now that we’ve told you what the job looks like, here are the qualifications we're looking for in a candidate:

• 5+ years of experience building and operating data services in a multi-tenant SaaS environment
• Deep expertise designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines using Apache Airflow, Delta Lake, or similar orchestration/data lakes/warehouse technologies
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java or Scala
• Strong proficiency in Spark
• Excellent SQL skills and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL (or equivalent relational databases)
• Experience in software engineering is a major plus
• Experience implementing data observability and quality frameworks such as Great Expectations to ensure pipeline reliability and catch anomalies early
• Demonstrated ability to take high-level analytics or data-science requirements and productionize them into reliable, performant code
• Track record of optimizing model implementations and data workflows to meet performance and cost-efficiency targets
• A predisposition for a fast-paced environment where we put an emphasis on delivering value for our customers, while learning, growing, and experimenting
• General experience working with large scale data sets
