Health and Safety Consultant – Salary £30,000 - £35,000

Home/Field based.

Aviva have the perfect opportunity for a knowledgeable Health & Safety (H&S) professional, who has good working knowledge of Asbestos and Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations throughout their career and confidence in offering consultancy services within the domestic and commercial insurance / construction sectors.

A bit about the job:

You will be responsible for providing high quality H&S services within Aviva’s General Insurance (GI) claims division, offering H&S advice, guidance and direct support to our field-based employees, as well as suppliers, during our customers’ property claim journey and subsequent repair process. This will involve auditing our chosen suppliers, undertaking regular inspections on site claims, producing detailed reports, raising any concerns and undertaking accident / incidents reporting and follow-up investigations.

You will also act a subject matter expert in this field, and regularly assist with training colleagues, alongside influencing and advising both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring you have an up-to-date knowledge of industry-related health and safety legislation and a sound understanding of asbestos risks and control.

This role will be a home-based position and will require regular travel across our Central patch i.e., Wales, Midlands and Norfolk – so would suit someone living in or close to the Midlands and will include a company car.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Expert knowledge of Health and Safety principles and practices, ideally within the consultancy or construction sector.
  • Good knowledge of the building/construction industry, including knowledge of Asbestos and Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate as well as Asbestos Awareness & CDM Awareness is essential.
  • Works effectively as part of a team, sharing and meeting common goals but also self-reliant and capable of working on own initiative.
  • Stakeholder management skills i.e., the ability to influence up to senior management level as well as be confident training colleagues successfully.

  • Starting salary between £30,000 and £35,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
