The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a National Operations Manager for the United Kingdom!
You will be responsible for the ongoing delivery of operational excellence and customer satisfaction across multiple high-value accounts as part of our Avantor (Lab and Production Services) team within the UK.

This includes managing the site services contract negotiations, implementations of our inventory management software, develop full commercial opprotunities with new businesses, manage health & safety, training & compliance, and the overall line management of our on-site teams.
You will also ensure a qualitative performance management processes by setting and continually review KPI metrics and ensuring adherence to our customers’ respective SLA’s and service development on our customer sites.

The vision and purpose of the role is to deliver a high quality and efficient service to our customers.

Working hours: Monday-Friday core hours (with flexibility as per business need).

Working Location: Home based but must be prepared to weekly visit customers.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous solid experience in managing teams in an operational environment (strategic operations, business development, or customer service are ideal).

  • Preferably, experience working with a service provider providing third party services, scientific materials handling operations or a scientific educational background.

  • IT Savy: Excellent IT skills, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.

  • Analytical skills: Proficient in data capture, analysis, and reporting utilising various IT software systems.

  • Strong Communication skills for internal and external stakeholders management at varying levels of seniority, regularly, both in person and virtually.

  • Previous experience completing SOP’s, SOW’s, SLA, and risk assessments is desirable.

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • To provide strategic governance for existing customers.

  • To be responsible for a defined list of UK LPS customers (Lab and Production Services) within the Avantor Services division. outside of our Major Accounts including specific site strategies in line with corporate goals.

  • To work with the other countries in Region North to ensure all knowledge is shared and resources correctly allocated

  • To be involved in contract negotiations for new customers and existing renewals.

  • To work closely with the Senior Operations Manager and learn all aspects of the implementation and management of on-site personnel & customers.

  • To manage implementations of our Inventory Management software (IM) along side our technical specialists in new LPS sites.

  • Carry out various administrative tasks for the department as and when required.

  • Over time, develop a full commercial understanding of the LPS services to help identify new business opportunities.

  • Promote our on-site services capability to our customers and support the sales force at the enquiry stage.

  • Work with the Senior Operations Manager and tenders team when necessary to ensure data is supplied to support bids or proposal at tender stage.

  • Work with all areas of the organisation in order to ensure customer requirements are met.

  • To travel within the UK to engage with current on-site personnel (2-3 days field based per week)

  • To implement process improvements at current customer engagements

  • Manage the Health and Safety at our Customer sites in line with the UK LPS Health and Safety Manager

  • To participate in the one team approach with the other LPS engagements in Region North

  • To align common customers globally with our colleagues in other Regions

  • To ensure all documentation is up to date with regards to our customer engagements
