Job Summary:

The Data Architect is a senior role in our payment accuracy analytics team that works with the business and technology groups to design, blueprint, and supervise the development of enterprise data solutions enabling robust analytic products. This role is responsible for delivering easily understandable, accessible, well-governed and secured data aligned to our Data Strategy.

Role qualifications:

  • Data Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, high-performance, and secure data architectures that align with business objectives.
  • Data Integration: Develop strategies for integrating diverse data sources and creating seamless data pipelines to ensure accurate and timely data delivery.
  • Data Modeling: Create and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Database Management: Oversee the design and maintenance of relational, NoSQL, and cloud databases.
  • Data Governance: Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security, compliance, and consistency across systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including data engineers, business analysts, and IT teams, to ensure data solutions meet business needs.
  • Data Quality: Establish and monitor data quality standards and ensure data is accurate, consistent, and accessible.
  • Scalability & Performance: Optimize database performance and scale solutions to handle growing volumes of data efficiently.
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Create detailed documentation on data architectures, models, and processes. Promote best practices across the organization for data management and architecture.
  • Research & Innovation: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in data architecture and recommend improvements and new tools to optimize data infrastructure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with capability to execute with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Management.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required

Key Skills:

  • 10 or more years of experience in business intelligence and data architecture design
  • Strong domain expertise in healthcare claims and financial transactions
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based data technologies and relational databases, including Oracle, MySQL and specifically AWS products Redshift, S3, EMR, Glue, QuickSight, and Aurora 
  • 5 or more years of experience with data engineering technologies, including but not limited to Spark, Scala, SQL
  • Analytical skills with hands-on experience in identifying, quantifying, and effectively raising risks associated with data quality, compliance, retention, and security
  • Expertise in enterprise data architecture design supporting data products
  • Experience in data management principles such as data governance, data security, data quality
  • Hands-on experience with data modeling for data lakes and data warehouses, to support large-scale structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • Hands-on experience developing scalable data engineering pipelines
  • Familiar with healthcare data standards
  • Develop data strategies in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders of varying levels

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the collaboration with Product Owners and development teams to understand business and analytic requirements, translate them into meaningful data pipeline design requirements and analytic products
  • Architect and deliver data solutions to support complex business intelligence and machine learning solutions
  • Design data models – document and collaborate to create conceptual and logical models
  • Architect and guide ETL engineers to optimize and maintain data models, and enable end-to-end data-driven integration
  • Maintain BI systems, design, develop, and implement various enterprise dashboard and reporting solutions
  • Direct and contribute to data pipeline development effort
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture team to develop and implement future state data architecture standards, guidelines, and principles for the enterprise
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of enterprise data stewardship, governance, and cataloging of company data and meta data
  • Collaborate with the data science and development teams to enable technologies and processes to maintain and improve data quality standards
