Financial Analyst

Overview of Position

This job is responsible for the accuracy of the financial statements for Extended Warranty business segments. This includes assisting with the monthly close process and working with marketing, operations, actuarial and other functional areas to ensure all information is received and entered timely and accurately, providing management and auditors with information they need as requested, contributing to preparation of retail entries for Annual reports for Obligor reporting, and special projects as required or requested by supervisor.

What will be my responsibilities for this position?

• Assists with the monthly close process to ensure all reporting has been received and accurately booked. (30%)

• Account Reconciliation, deferred acquisition costs, premium tax accruals, and other non-system underwriting/admin business activity. (20%)

• Prepares analysis and support for auditors including answering any follow-up questions. (5%)

• Analyzes the monthly financial results for accuracy and resolves identified issues in a timely manner. (15%)

• Researches quarterly P&L and BS variance analysis items. This includes working with marketing and other departments to gather business reasons for significant variances or changes in the financial statements and preparing variance write-ups for management and auditors. (15%)

• Assists with on-boarding of new clients. This includes advising on completion of system implementation set-up and reviewing reports to ensure the business is properly mapped/interfaced to the general ledger system. (10%)

• Expedites completion of assigned special projects, provides supplemental reporting, and miscellaneous ad hoc requests as required. (5%)

What are the requirements needed for this position?

• Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or Finance

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience

• Strong financial analysis experience

• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, detailed oriented

• Strong technical accounting/problem solving skills and attention to accuracy

• Strong ability to be well organized while managing multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities

• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and Word

• PeopleSoft, Oracle or Smartstream general ledger experience preferred

Pay Range:

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
