The Role

We're looking for an experienced, product-driven engineering leader that wants to help us build a great team and world class product to support the ongoing success of great brands and their communities across the world. As a director, you’ll report directly to our CTO and will directly manage a team of engineers to improve our product and solve meaningful customer problems. You'll work closely with product managers, designers and other stakeholders while also implementing engineering best practices across the team. You can also expect to play a major role in guiding the direction of our architecture and product while working with an open and collaborative team.

What you'll be working on:

  • Working closely with product managers, product designers, and engineers to effectively develop major features and improvements across multiple parts of our platform
  • Fostering and championing a customer-obsessed team culture that embraces ownership, trust, and collaboration
  • Establishing a high bar for your team, ensuring best practices are followed, and delivering consistent, constructive feedback to help your engineers learn and grow
  • Holding your scrum team accountable to delivering on goals, acting as scrum master, and taking ownership of your team’s quarterly roadmap
  • Contributing to a significant part of the technical and organizational strategy for the engineering department to ensure that we're set up for long term success
  • Identifying and implementing best practices to improve our product development process and development experience

What we're looking for:

  • You have managed people for 3+ years and have remote management experience for web application development at product-centric, customer-obsessed companies
  • A history of insisting on the highest standards, consistently coach engineers to be outcome driven with a customer mindset, and experience managing out and effectively dealing with underperformance
  • The ability to act as both a tech lead and scrum master for an engineering team, so that decisions are made quickly and effectively regarding both the technology and product areas that your team works on.
  • You practice servant leadership, setting clear expectations and goals while supporting your teams to take ownership, develop their skills, and be successful
  • Have previously established a technical strategy and roadmap by developing a deep understanding of tech debt and aligning with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to gather product & business requirements and align and motivate engineers to work towards clear goals. Proven track record establishing and driving technical advances, reducing tech debt and aligning teams around customers.
  • Track record of hiring engineers and managers who raise the bar and a track record of quickly managing underperformers up or out

Benefits and Perks

  • Work-Life Balance
    • Flexible work from home policy
    • Unlimited vacation policy
    • 4 months paid parental leave
