About the role

The Scrum Master / Agile Coach owns the delivery rhythm of an integrated AspenView + client team and is accountable for the team's agile maturity — not just running ceremonies, but continuously improving how the team works. This is a senior, independent role: one Scrum Master serves the full team across multiple workstreams — AspenView engineers and specialists alongside the client's nominated counterparts, business stakeholders, and source-system owners. The Scrum Master runs sprint cadence end-to-end, ensures every sprint produces working software validated by real users, and raises the bar on delivery effectiveness over the life of the engagement.

What you will do:

  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies for the integrated AspenView + client team: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
  • Run a two-week sprint cadence end-to-end: intent capture, build-in-the-open delivery, mid-sprint validation with stakeholders, and re-planning based on what is learned.
  • Coach the team on vertical-slice delivery — each sprint ships a thin but complete slice of value end-to-end rather than horizontal layers that defer value and hide risk.
  • Own the engagement backlog in Azure DevOps: hygiene, prioritization in partnership with the technical lead and business analyst, capacity planning, and velocity tracking.
  • Coordinate dependencies across workstreams — data engineering, BI, security, DevOps, UX, and data science as applicable — to prevent serialization and keep parallel delivery on track.
  • Remove blockers — technical, organizational, and cross-team — and escalate cleanly to AspenView Delivery Leadership when issues need to be unstuck above the team.
  • Translate sprint metrics — velocity, cycle time, escaped defects, validation pass rate — into clear delivery health narratives for client steering committees and AspenView leadership.
  • Diagnose process anti-patterns — long cycle times, missed sprint commitments, unclear handoffs, unbalanced workloads, retro fatigue — and introduce targeted improvements to address them.
  • Raise the team's agile maturity over the life of the engagement: introduce practices such as story slicing, refined Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, WIP limits, estimation techniques, and engineering hygiene rituals when the team is ready for them.
  • Run retrospectives that produce concrete, measurable improvements — track action items through to completion and surface recurring systemic impediments to AspenView leadership for resolution.
  • Coach client stakeholders new to sprint cadences on how to participate effectively in reviews and validation.
  • Champion agile delivery principles inside the team: working software over status decks, stakeholder validation every sprint, and continuous backlog refinement.
  • Operate independently as the senior delivery lead on the engagement; do not require a Project Manager layer above the role.

What you bring:

  • 8+ years of Scrum Master or Agile delivery experience, with at least 4 years on enterprise data, BI, or analytics programs.
  • Proven track record running agile delivery for an integrated team of 8–12 engineers and specialists across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong agile coaching skills — able to elevate a team's practice and not merely facilitate its ceremonies.
  • Track record of measurably improving agile maturity on prior engagements — concrete examples of cycle time reduction, predictability improvements, or other delivery metrics moved through targeted coaching interventions.
  • Demonstrable independence: able to operate as the senior delivery lead on an engagement without a Project Manager above the role.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Azure DevOps (boards, backlogs, pipelines, release management) at the level required to administer the backlog directly.
  • Experience running sprint cadences with senior business stakeholders — equally comfortable in a sprint review with a CFO and a stand-up with a data engineer.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication; comfortable working with US-based stakeholders on US business hours.
  • Scrum Master certification: CSM, PSM I, or equivalent.

Nice if you have:

  • Prior experience on manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial operations data programs (MES, ERP, plant analytics, OEE / scrap / OTIF dashboards).
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft data and BI delivery stack: Dynamics 365, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Power BI.
  • Experience coaching teams through scaled agile transitions (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus) — not required as a framework, but the multi-workstream coordination skills are directly relevant.
  • Exposure to regulated-industry delivery environments and the artifact and audit-trail discipline they impose.
  • Familiarity with KPI governance constructs (KPI Councils, Data Governance Councils) and the cadence of running them alongside delivery.
  • Experience on nearshore-onshore hybrid teams delivering to US-based enterprise clients.
  • Advanced certifications: A-CSM, CSP-SM, PSM II/III, SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE).
