We are seeking a detail-oriented Functional Consultant to support a complex Salesforce implementation with ongoing operational, functional, and change-management responsibilities. This role is deeply embedded in delivery, ensuring the platform remains stable, accurate, and aligned with evolving business needs.
Experience working with managed packages and in industries with operational complexity, such as travel, is highly advantageous.

This is a 2-month initial engagement with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Ownership and Day-to-Day Support

  • Act as the primary functional point of contact for business users, supporting feature enhancements, configuration updates, and process refinement.
  • Analyse business requirements and translate them into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and configuration tasks.
  • Manage functional configuration such as flows, automation, page layouts, validation rules, permission sets, and declarative logic.

Change Management and Release Readiness

  • Lead functional change-management processes, ensuring new features and changes are clearly communicated, documented, and adopted.
  • Prepare impact assessments for upcoming platform or managed package upgrades.
  • Work with technical and delivery teams to plan and coordinate release cycles, including identifying risks and readiness criteria.

Testing, Quality Assurance, and Validation

  • Execute post-upgrade smoke testing to verify core functionality, booking flows, integrations, and operational processes remain stable.
  • Support full or partial regression cycles, including test planning, test case creation, defect validation, and issue tracking.
  • Validate bug fixes, ensuring functional accuracy before deployment to production.
  • Document test results, identify functional gaps, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues efficiently.

Data Quality, Hygiene, and Operational Efficiency

  • Support data clean-up initiatives, including field rationalisation and process simplification.
  • Work with stakeholders to maintain consistent data standards and ensure functional processes follow best practices.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with product owners, business SMEs, and technical architects to align functional design with broader platform strategy.
  • Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, and validate user expectations through demos, prototypes, and UAT sessions.
  • Provide clear communication and training to end users when changes are deployed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor business processes and user behaviour to identify enhancement opportunities and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Salesforce capabilities and managed package functionality to recommend future improvements.
  • Contribute documentation, process guides, and reusable materials to support long-term operational stability.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience as a Functional Consultant, Business Analyst, or similar role working on Salesforce delivery.
  • Strong ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into well-defined functional designs.
  • Experience performing smoke tests, regression validation, and structured test cycles.
  • Familiarity with managed packages and the functional considerations related to upgrades, dependencies, and configuration constraints.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for data quality, process consistency, and functional accuracy.
  • Experience in industries such as travel, hospitality, or transportation is preferred but not required.

Desirable

  • Salesforce Administrator or Consultant-level certifications.
  • Background in structured change-management approaches.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar tooling for backlog management.
  • Experience supporting large, multi-cloud or multi-package environments.
