Summary:

Anaconda is seeking a talented Software Engineer III to join our team and contribute to the Conda ecosystem, a powerful package and environment management system widely used in the data science and scientific computing communities. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a diverse team of developers and researchers to enhance the functionality, performance, and usability of conda. What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional globally distributed teams to design, develop, and maintain features for the Conda package manager and its associated tools.
  • Contribute to the development of Conda's core functionalities, including package resolution, environment management, and dependency handling.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Engage with the open-source community by addressing issues, implementing feature requests, and providing support to users.
  • Stay up-to-date with and apply best practices in software development and package management.

What You Need:

  • 5 + years of development experience
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing, and documentation.
  • Experience building command line interfaces and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Practical knowledge of different operating systems (Windows, linux, macOS)
  • Experience with continuous integration systems and testing tools: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, pytest, unittest, etc.
  • Experience with software development management tools such as Jira, GitHub Issues, etc.

What Will Make You Stand Out:

  • Experience contributing to open-source projects, particularly in the Python ecosystem or related fields.
  • Familiarity with package management systems and concepts, particularly in the context of scientific computing or data science
  • Knowledge of conda, its architecture, and its ecosystem, including familiarity with conda-forge and other community-driven initiatives
  • Experience with performance optimization and profiling in Python applications
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring others in the community, as well as a commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment
  • Strong experience with different operating systems: Windows, macOS, Linux

The base salary range for this role is $115,500 - $170,000 for candidates outside of New York City and San Francisco, (other US locations), along with annual bonus potential, equity participation, and benefits.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual compensation is determined by various factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter will provide more specific details on the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
