Job Summary:

The VP Allstate Financial Services Broker Dealer leader is expected to leverage in-depth industry and leadership knowledge to provide strategic and operational direction and guidance to the Broker Dealer and compliance organization specific to life and retirement business. This leader ensures that all Allstate Financial Services securities-related activities and operations of the broker-dealer are established and executed as designed. Responsible for the oversight of the chief compliance officer, brokerage operations, and sales leaders by ensuring all applicable legal, regulatory, and firm requirements are met. Leads development of regulatory and compliance protocols including licensing and registration of producers and sales leaders and responds to inquiries from industry contacts as needed. Accountable for developing broker-dealer business plans and fulfilling vendor and customer fulfillment standards. Anticipates and interprets internal and/or external business challenges and works across Allstate Life and Retirement and Allstate Personal Lines Sales and Distribution organization to ensure adherence to policies and procedures for broker dealer and securities business. This role collaborates with the Zone Leaders to broaden Allstate’s reach to middle-income households and integrate life and retirement products into go-to-market strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Responsible for overall workflow and production of multiple departments and vendors
  • Implements the company's Diversity Initiative goals for selection, training, development, and promotion of minority group members and women
  • Approves or recommends placement of managers, promotions, compensation, and terminations
  • Evaluates employees' performance and potential in order to prepare them for additional responsibilities
  • Establishes/Approves work procedures/standards and ensures proper staffing and assignment of job responsibilities to employees
  • Controls costs through the proper utilization of staffing and professional services
  • Coordinates the development of performance standards

Relationship Management

  • Collaborates with Allstate field distribution leaders to broaden Allstate Life and Retirement go-to-market strategies
  • Conducts employee communication meetings
  • Establishes agenda items, attends and schedules meetings to obtain/provide information to/from internal and external personnel
  • Responsible for answering complex inquiries requiring interpretation of policies procedures, rules, regulations and corporate direction
  • Interprets information received from other departments and company policy
  • Participates in industry/community activities
  • Responsible for handling question/complaints from internal/external sources regarding procedures, and practices

Development

  • Serves as a role model, displaying and instilling an environment of trust, openness, participation, and integrity
  • Coordinates activities to positively align with and contribute to a shared vision, values, and strategies of the organization

  • Provides appropriate direction to department management and provides leadership necessary to coordinate division/department activities consistent with departmental and corporate guidelines
  • Works with user/client department leaders to ensure priorities remain in contact with user/company objectives

Administration

  • Operational and project management expert
  • Leads, attends, and participates in various Senior Leader meetings
  • Compiles, analyzes, and communicates results
  • Participates in the annual business plan process and provides input for business results and expense plans
  • Leads and develops talent management programs and offerings

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 10-15+ years of related experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and present highly specialized terms and data
  • Expert knowledge of broker dealer and securities environments, FINRA, and insurance regulation, with working knowledge of distribution channels, personal lines, producer and sales leader education and onboarding, rate plans and product offerings
  • Extensive knowledge of current industry standards/environment
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills
  • Coach and mentor others
  • Plan, implement, manage, and/or sponsor projects that are highly complex and/or large-scale key initiatives using accepted project management standards
  • FINRA – Series 7 and 24 required and must be obtained within 90 days
  • Professional designations such as CLU and ChFC are desired but not required
