Role Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Partnerships Manager to join our family of talented people in the Partnerships Team.
As the Partnership Manager you will lead a team of Account Managers and have the opportunity to make a real impact on this evolving part of the Petplan business with responsibility for driving Petplan’s key partner proposition and growing our share of new business through our key partners.
The Partnership Manager will own the day to day management of key partner accounts as well as delivery of the key partner strategy.
Your focus:
Deliver Commercial Objectives
Oversee realisation and support evolution of Petplan Key Partner strategy, making Petplan the partner of choice for key players within Petplan’s chosen partner channels.
Work within Partnerships and Pet Trading Leadership Teams to shape strategic direction for Petplan Partnerships and business as a whole.
Using your team of Key Account Managers and by working closely with the Partnerships Marketing and Field Sales teams you will be responsible for overseeing all partnership activities in delivering new business sales targets through Petplan’s key partners.
Delivery of partner-specific sales targets through combination of traditional channel engagement as well as new partner distribution programme.
Virtual responsibility for individual partner P&Ls.
Own the reporting of key partner performance and feed into all relevant internal reports and meetings as necessary with detailed insight and understanding of recovery plans.
Responsible for the Partnerships budget.
Instil and enhance a commercial awareness within the team, ensuring activity is always linked to tangible benefit.
Partner relationships:
Implement robust partner management structure including structured partner review meetings, frequent provision of relevant MI, key contact matrices and action logs
Develop and manage strategic joint partner plans to secure long term business as well as ensure the strategic importance of working with Petplan for the key partner
Frequent contact with key partners to maintain oversight of partnership
Maintain visibility with channel associations and at events
Establish network of senior stakeholders within the partnership and work alongside Head of Partnerships and Pet Trading Director to maintain these relationships.
Support embedding relevant partner contacts and relationships into wider Petplan business to strengthen relationship at all levels from director through to specific functions like Marketing, Technical etc.
Ensure partner contracts are in place and a programme of contract renewal is in place to secure partnerships for the long term, ensuring internal financial modelling and sign-off processes are adhered to prior to contract signing
Ensure partner activity is in line with agreed budget and confirmed regulatory status at all times
New Partner development
Take a leading role in securing of agreed new partners
Ownership of tender processes and bid documents, working closely with Partnerships Marketing team to create best in class tender documents and proposals
Ownership of commercials proposed ensuring agreement obtained by Head of Partnerships and relevant internal sign-off in line with Authorities Matrix governance process.
Alignment of business areas impacted by new partner proposals generating buy-in and agreement where necessary to implement.
Team leadership and professional development:
Responsible for 5 Account Managers as direct reports
Establish best in class sales competencies among direct and indirect reports – core selling and persuasion, questioning and communication technique development, activity planning as well as sales tools development and refinement.
Provide excellence in people development – individual and team development, enhanced coaching and counselling techniques and excellence in training from induction through to experienced practitioner
Continue to learn and develop new sales skills and practices to improve and optimise your performance and ensure achievement of both partner and Petplan’s business targets.
Deputise for Head of Partnerships as required
Support other parts of the Partnerships / Pet Trading teams as required.
About You
To be successful for the role you’ll be enthusiastic and passionate about pets and petcare, keeping up to date with what is happening in the pet welfare and veterinary industries. Previous experience working within a Financial Services or pet-related industries is preferred, but not essential.
You will have experience of successfully working in Account / Partner Management or a Senior Business position where relationship, intermediary management and selling/persuasion has been a key part of the role.
Numerate and commercially aware and experience pro-actively seeking opportunities to improve business performance.
You will have excellent communication skills, confident, tactful and persuasive manner with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with partners.
You will have negotiation and influencing skills with ability to influence sideways and upwards when required and excellent written skills.
Collaboration skills and strong team player with time management and organisational skills essential.
PC Literacy Including strong PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills.
Full driving licence is essential
Qualification
Degree educated to 2:1 or equivalent/strong record of academic success
