We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Linux systems management, networking, web server administration, monitoring, hardware, databases, cybersecurity, and public cloud platforms — specifically AWS and GCP.

This role requires the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do:

    Linux & Virtualisation

  • Install, administer, and maintain Linux operating systems, including Debian and RHEL distributions.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain virtualisation environments (libvirt) and containerisation tools (LXC, Docker).

  • Manage Kubernetes (K8s) clusters — deployments, services, scaling, and troubleshooting in production environments.

  • L3 Networking

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and services: IP, routing (static, OSPF, BGP), DNS, VPN, HA technologies (bridging, keepalive), firewalls, and Cisco Meraki.

  • Design and maintain secure, high-availability network infrastructure across distributed environments.

  • Cloud Infrastructure — AWS & GCP

  • AWS: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Lambda. Experience with cost optimisation (Cost Explorer, Savings Plans) and security groups/policies.

  • GCP: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, IAM, and Cloud Monitoring. Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC tools for cloud resource management.

  • Experience managing multi-tenant cloud environments and migration projects (on-prem → cloud).

  • Understanding of cloud security principles: encryption, secrets management (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager), Zero Trust networking.

  • Web Servers & Databases

  • Configure and manage web servers: Nginx, Apache, PHP.

  • Database administration with MySQL/MariaDB, including replication technologies (bin-log, Galera).

  • Experience with Redis, Memcache, Supervisord, and Logstash.

  • Monitoring & Security

  • Infrastructure monitoring using Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, and Netdata.

  • Apply cybersecurity principles including vulnerability management, SIEM, and XDR.

  • Certificate lifecycle management (PKI, Let's Encrypt) and vulnerability scanning.

  • Automation & IaC

  • Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.

  • Scripting in Bash, Python, or similar languages to automate repetitive operational tasks.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent) is a plus.

  • General Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure.

  • Provide occasional L2 technical support assistance.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and runbooks — Atlassian Stack (Confluence, Jira).

  • Manage IT assets including hardware, software licences, and peripheral devices.

  • Collaborate closely with external support teams and the R&D department on technology projects.

What we are looking for:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and IT infrastructure management.

  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP in a production environment.

  • Strong understanding of the technologies listed above.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Relevant certifications are a strong plus: RHCE, CCNA, AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, or equivalent.

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

The journey of Aleph began with a simple, yet profound, realization by its co-founder and CEO, Albert Gozzi. Having experienced the frustrations and limitations of existing Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) solutions firsthand, both as a CFO and an engineer, Gozzi envisioned a new approach. He observed that many finance teams, despite the availability of sophisticated web-based tools, still found themselves reverting to the familiar and flexible environment of spreadsheets for critical tasks. These dedicated FP&A tools often tried to replace Excel or Google Sheets entirely, forcing users to learn new syntaxes and conform to rigid models that didn't always align with diverse business needs. This often led to months-long implementations with a slow time-to-value.

Driven by the desire to solve these real-world problems, Gozzi embarked on a mission to create a 'spreadsheet-first' FP&A tool. The core idea was to supercharge the flexibility of spreadsheets by addressing their inherent weaknesses, such as a lack of real-time data connections and robust collaboration features, especially when scaling operations. This vision started to take shape in 2020, with Gozzi building the minimum viable product from his home during the pandemic. In 2021, Santiago Perez De Rosso, with a Ph.D. from MIT and experience at DocuSign, joined as co-founder and CTO, bringing further technical expertise to the nascent company. Their collaborative efforts led to Aleph's acceptance into the prestigious Y Combinator program, providing a crucial launchpad for their innovative platform. The name 'Aleph' itself is symbolic, drawn from a short story by Jorge Luis Borges, representing a point in space containing all other points – a metaphor for how Aleph aims to centralize and provide a 360-degree view of a business's financial data without distortion or confusion. Today, Aleph is empowering finance teams at companies like Turo, Notion, Zapier, and Envoy to make better, faster decisions by providing a single source of truth for all their financial data, seamlessly integrating with existing workflows and automating repetitive tasks.
