You will be part of our software engineering organization developing software and informatics solutions to support the digital lab workflows of the future. Your role will be to work closely with the teams as a technical authority and architect, ensuring the design and architecture of software components are robust, scalable, and maintainable. Agilent’s Software Architects make technical decisions and the complex clear. They translate business strategy to technical solutions and bring structure where there is chaos.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, innovative and passionate about delivering world-class software and likes to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be involved in designingnew generation of software products, incorporating state-of-the-art technology to provide new features and functionality to Agilent’s customers.

Qualifications

We are looking for motivated and driven team players with at least 8 years of experience working in full stack software development and 3 years in technical leadership or software architecture roles. This role involves hybrid working conditions, working remotely on Mondays and Fridays, and collaborating on-site from Tuesdays to Thursdays. Ideal candidates for this role will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Independent, positive, and proactive approach to problem-solving within a team and across teams
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplined, geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to understand complex software development processes from start to finish.
  • Proficient in C#, .NET Core/.NET Framework development using Visual Studio/VS Code
  • Experienced in web development: ASP.NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger
  • Strong database skills: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Entity Framework Core
  • Enterprise architecture: Event-driven, microservices, CLEAN and Domain-Driven Design
  • Containers and container orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Linux
  • Cloud platforms: AWS and/or Azure
  • Agile/Scrum methodology and processes: Scrum, TDD
  • Quality assurance: Unit testing, UAT, test automation
  • DevOps/CI/CD pipeline experience: GitHub, Jenkins, PowerShell, Bash

As a software architect, you will also be responsible for:

  • Leading the design and architecture of software solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Contributing to the definition of architecture of new standards and enforce standards and best practices as a member of Agilent’s global software architecture organization.
  • Collaborating with product owners and stakeholders to define software requirements and architecture.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement software architecture standards and best practices.
  • Mentoring and guiding team members in software design and development practices.
  • Contributing to the design of new cloud and SaaS solutions to support digital lab workflows of tomorrow.

It will be advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in developing software according to quality processes required for regulatory compliant environments such as 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
  • Build and deployment tools: Groovy, Nexus, VMware vSphere
  • Working experience with Nx or other monorepo tools.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel internationally.

What you won’t be doing as a Software Architect in Agilent:

  • No Firefighting: While Architects can help with production issues, constant crisis management prevents architects from performing their core duties, which require focused thinking time.
  • No Delivery Coding: Architecture is a distinct career path that involves broader organizational and strategic concerns beyond writing code. While senior developers specialize in delivering software, architects have wider responsibilities.
  • No Project Management: Though architects may get pulled into project management space as technical assessment or estimation contributors, this diverts them from their primary responsibility of designing and guiding technical direction.

This job has a full time weekly schedule.Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
