Middleware Engineer

Location - Bogota, Colombia (Hybrid Scheme)

Role purpose

We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer – IT Transformation Services to join our dynamic IT team. This position focuses on Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) development, automation, and environment provisioning, while also supporting middleware and shared service applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines, along with a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, scripting, and configuration management. Experience with middleware technologies such as IIS, Tomcat, or JBoss will be considered a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

• Design, develop, and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform and Ansible for cloud and on-premises environments.

• Automate deployment pipelines, environment provisioning, and configuration management.

• Integrate IaC workflows into Git-based CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab).

• Develop scripts and automation tools in Python and/or PowerShell to enhance infrastructure reliability and consistency.

Middleware and Shared Services Support

• (Nice to have) Install, configure, and maintain middleware platforms such as Apache Tomcat, RedHat JBoss, Microsoft IIS, or Oracle WebLogic.

• Support shared service applications including MFA, data tokenization, and encryption solutions.

Security & Systems Management

• Implement and manage network encryption technologies (SSL, HTTPS).

• Manage authentication and authorization mechanisms such as SSO (Active Directory) and MFA.

• Perform basic Linux system administration, including DNS, VPN, and IP management tasks.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with cloud engineers, DevOps specialists, and application teams to optimize automation and delivery pipelines.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies using Scrum or Kanban to deliver continuous improvement initiatives.

• Identify and implement process and tooling enhancements to improve infrastructure scalability, reliability, and compliance.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.

• Proficiency in scripting or development using Python and/or PowerShell.

• Experience with CI/CD pipeline development using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab.

• Familiarity with middleware platforms (e.g., IIS, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) is a plus.

• Understanding of network security protocols, SSO, and MFA integration.

• Experience working with Linux environments and basic network administration.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and collaborative mindset.

• FLUENT ENGLISH: Interviews will be held in this language.
