A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Co-Manage timely and accurate processing of multi-state bi-weekly payroll
- Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises, other compensation)
- International Payroll (a plus)
- Responsible for transmitting payroll files to payroll processing system
- Prepare reports for quarterly, yearly and weekly reports
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies and payroll tax obligations
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Process 401K files, funding to Fidelity, accounting reports
- Manage year-end processing/reporting and distribution of W-2’s
- Manage 401k non-discrimination testing, 5500 and workers compensation audits
- Manage system implementations & upgrades
- Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits
- Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for accounting, HR, and management
- Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions
- Respond to all child support related verification of employment inquiries, garnishment affidavits and interrogatories in a timely manner
What You’ll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
- 8+ years of proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role
- Payroll processing and troubleshooting in WorkDay (required)
- Excellent Excel skills (required)
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
- Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- A keen eye for detail
- An analytical mind and good math skills
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
- BSc/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g., CPP, CPM) is a plus
