The Opportunity:
The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Health Systems & Payer Strategy is asenior‑level,external‑facingMedical Affairs role responsible for engagingexecutive‑levelstakeholders within health systems and payer organizations. This position serves as a strategic scientific partner toC‑suiteleaders, medical directors, pharmacy leadership, and payerdecision‑makers, providinghigh‑valueclinical, health economics, andoutcomes‑basedmedical insights to supportpopulation‑levelcare, formulary decisions, andsystem‑widestrategies.
The role emphasizesenterprise‑levelscientific engagement, population health perspectives, andvalue‑basedhealthcare discussions. It requires a medical professional capable of operating with autonomy, credibility, and influence across complex healthsystemand payer environments.
What you will do:
Executive & Payer Scientific Engagement
- Establishand maintain trusted,long‑termscientific partnerships withC‑suiteexecutives, chief medical officers, chief pharmacy officers, medical directors, and senior payer leadership
- Serve as the primary Medical Affairs scientific point of contact for assigned health systems, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and payer organizations
- Leadexecutive‑level,non‑promotionalscientific discussions focused on population health, clinical strategy, quality metrics, andvalue‑basedcare models
Scientific & Strategic Medical Support
- Deliverobjective,evidence‑basedscientific exchange across relevant disease states and therapeutic areas aligned with health system and payer priorities
- Translate clinical evidence,real‑worldevidence (RWE), and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) into insights meaningful for formulary, policy, andsystem‑leveldecision‑making
- Support payer and health system understanding of evolving clinical guidelines, care pathways, and emerging science
Cross‑FunctionalCollaboration
- Collaborate closely with internal Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access, Policy, and Commercial partners whilemaintainingmedical independence and compliance
- Sharefield‑basedinsights to inform medical and commercial strategy, evidence generation, and executive engagement planning
- Contribute scientific and strategicexpertiseto internal initiatives aligned with payer and health system needs
Insights & Thought Leadership
- Identifyand communicate actionable insights related to payer and health system evidence needs, population health trends, and unmet clinical gaps
- Support scientific congresses, advisory boards, and executive forums with payer and health system stakeholders
- Act as a recognized scientific expert and trusted medical advisor within assigned accounts
Compliance & Governance
- Conduct all activities in full compliance with regulatory, legal, and Medical Affairs standards
- Maintainclear separation between medical and promotional activities
Required Qualifications
Education
- Advanced degreerequired: MD, DO, PharmD or equivalent terminal degree in a scientific or clinical discipline
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in Pharma withdemonstratedsuccess in external scientific engagement
- Prior experience engaging payers, health systems, ordecision‑makers
- Proven ability to lead complex scientific discussions and manage strategic relationships
Skills & Competencies
- Strong executive presence with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Deep understanding of US payer dynamics, health system structures, population health, andvalue‑basedcare
- Strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments
- High ethical standards and commitment to scientific integrity and compliance
Travel
- Up to 50% travel, including regional and national meetings with health systems, payers, and internal stakeholders
The base pay for this position is
$129,300.00 – $258,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
