Yunkyung Song
@yunkyungsong
Foreign language instructor specializing in interactive English and Korean teaching, with research-driven TESOL and SLA expertise.
What I'm looking for
I’m an enthusiastic foreign language teacher focused on making learning an interactive, supportive experience. I teach both English and Korean, drawing on a strong TESOL foundation and my interests in SLA and how teachers’ beliefs shape practice.
Over the years, I’ve worked with learners ranging from very young students to teenagers, and I’ve also taught adult immigrants and refugees in the UK. In my university role, I taught Korean language and culture to undergraduate students from beginner to advanced levels, helping them use Korean confidently in real-life situations.
I create materials and exam papers, mark and assess work with constructive feedback, and plan lessons that encourage independent practice and collaboration in the classroom. I’ve also provided one-to-one support to help adult learners develop literacy and language skills, and I’ve volunteered to teach ESOL classes to support community learners.
My research interests include Second Language Acquisition, task-based language teaching, implicit learning, intercultural communication, and Korean linguistics. My dissertation examined factors that influence EFL teachers’ decision-making with the task-based approach in South Korea—so I bring both classroom experience and research-informed perspective to my teaching.
