William Murphy
@williammurphy
I write and edit futurist coverage on science, technology, longevity, and emerging technologies.
What I'm looking for
I've written futurist coverage for the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies since 2013, contributing on science, technology, politics, and the future. Since 2015, I've also been recognized as an Affiliate Scholar for my ongoing work as a writer and futurist.
At Serious Wonder, I served as a writer, editor, and Social Media Manager for science, technology, and futurist news. I've also written for Humai, BodAi, and Future of Sex, bringing analytical futurist perspectives to robotics, AI, cybernetics, longevity, and emerging innovation.
I've led and supported online communities as Director of Social Media for the U.S. Transhumanist Party, overseeing social profiles, online presence, and its Foreign Ambassadors program. As Editor in Chief of Cyberlife, I worked to make the publication a cultural destination for transhumanist films, music, art, and ideas.
My work extends to technology advising, policy, and public outreach: I advised The Last Generation to Die, served on Lifeboat Foundation's Futurists and Space Settlement boards, and helped organize Planetary Resources' ARKYD 100 Space Telescope campaign, which reached $1.5 million in July 2013. I'm a published author on longevity science and the future of business, and I'm focused on continuing to push my writing career forward.

Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Affiliate Scholar
Jul 2015 - Present (11 years 2 months)
I'm officially recognized as an Affiliate Scholar for the nonprofit think-tank Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET) for my continuous work and dedication as both a writer and futurist.
I'm a contributing writer on the topics of science, technology, politics, and the future.
Director of Social Media
Nov 2016 - Aug 2021 (4 years 9 months)
As Director of Social Media, I help in the management of the U.S. Transhumanist Party / Transhuman Party's (USTP) various social media profiles and overall online presence. I also oversee USTP's Foreign Ambassadors program.
I'm the Social Media Manager, writer, and editor for the science, technology, and futurist news webpage Serious Wonder.
I'm an Ambassador for the A.I. tech company Humai, which seeks to harness cryonics, A.I., and cybernetics to help people achieve indefinite life extension a few decades from now.
I work with the robotics company BodAi as a Content Writer and Thought Leader. BodAi is a visionary tech startup company founded in 2016 by Futurist Miss Metaverse (Long Island, NY, USA) and VR & Game Designer Zak Field (Norwich, UK) developing advanced humanoid robot companions known as Bods for both personal and commercial use.
As Senior Writer for the online publication Future of Sex, I provide analytical futurist observations of what the future of sex might entail using the latest advancements and innovations in science and technology. This also includes assessing any and all risks from a proactionary principle standpoint, which might come as a result.
For over a year now, I've been working with Director and Co-Writer Tim Maupin as a Tech Adviser for his upcoming short film 'The Last Generation to Die'.
I was sitting on two of Lifeboat's advisory boards - the Futurists Board and Space Settlement Board - helping advise views and policies for the organization in ways of dealing with possible existential risks in the not-too-distant future.
I was a member of the asteroid mining company Planetary Resources' newly formed Planetary Community Vanguard unit, helping organize an outreach funding campaign for the ARKYD 100 Space Telescope - an open-source means of space exploration. The funding was complete and accomplished - at $1.5 million - by July of 2013.
I stepped in as Editor in Chief for the cultural online magazine Cyberlife, working alongside David J. Kelley, with the goal of bringing some life back into the page during the weekdays. I wanted Cyberlife to become a cultural hot-spot in regards to Transhumanism - somewhere you can read about films, listen to music, enjoy someone's artwork, and much more.
I was a film-review writer and editor for the online Transhumanist social magazine Cyberlife.
I was a co-editor and writer for the online/offline political newspaper Fight Back! News, in which we provided coverage on all the important social activist events and demonstrations which took place across the United States, along with some coverage outside of the country.
