Varune Mahabirsingh

I’m a final-year BSc Geomatics Engineering student at the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine), focused on turning classroom learning into practical field and office experience. I’m motivated, dedicated, and committed to developing the work ethics and skills needed for a successful professional career.

In my internship at The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, I supported quality assessment of AUTOCAD drawings and participated in inspection visits at onshore plants and substations. I also gained hands-on exposure to new Geomatic equipment, including drones and GNSS, strengthening how I approach geospatial work from both technical and field perspectives.

As an Office Assistant at Direct Resources Limited, I sourced material/parts and contractors for various jobs, gathered and collected data for weekly progress reports, and helped coordinate logistics. I also supported inspections of finished jobs with contractors and clients, which sharpened my attention to detail and communication.

I’ve also built dependable work habits through customer-facing roles, including inspecting floor displays and maintaining an organized checkout area as a Sales Clerk at Gopauls’ Toys and Baby World. Alongside skills in MS Project, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and surveying equipment, I hold certifications in Introduction to Project Management and Introduction to Health & Safety (OSHA Law of T&T).
