What I'm looking for

I’m looking to build healthcare AI/ML that works in the real world—risk prediction, adherence and retention, and clinician-ready decision support. I want teams that value rigorous validation, ETL/API integration (FHIR/REST), and translating insights into actionable care.

I’m a data scientist and physician specializing in healthcare AI/ML—focused on building predictive models, risk-scoring systems, and AI-powered patient engagement tools for real-world deployment in African health contexts. I combine hands-on machine learning and data engineering with a clinician’s understanding of patient behaviour, adherence, and non-communicable disease management.

In my current role as Head of Research, Innovation & Technical Delivery / AI Engineer, I built and validated production healthcare AI/ML models for clinical risk stratification, including a decision support system classifying patients by risk tier against national clinical guidelines. I validated the system across 150 structured cases with full concordance, and I design evaluation as an engineering discipline so models hold up in real-world performance—not just benchmarks. I also engineered GCP-based Python ETL pipelines for reliable data flow in low-connectivity environments and delivered FHIR-aligned REST API integrations to power mobile and web applications.

Before that, I grounded my modeling instincts through frontline clinical work as a Medical Officer Intern at the Kenya Ministry of Health, managing non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes and observing the drivers of patient disengagement and adherence failure. That clinical exposure informs how I build risk-scoring and adherence models around real behavioural and care-management factors.

I’ve also strengthened my engineering foundation with backend and data pipeline work at Safaricom, including CI/CD automation and production reliability requirements. And beyond delivery, I contribute to capability-building through the Microsoft TEALS Program, teaching programming and data handling to high school students across Kenya.
