What I'm looking for
My earliest job on the web was as a content editor for the Los Angeles Times (first task: build the website!), and I’ve spent the years since designing, writing code, teaching, writing, and speaking about websites. Many of those efforts have been with or for news organizations, or in online journalism.
I care deeply about the news industry, particularly local and independent news, and have relished every opportunity I’ve had to work with and for news organizations. I'm drawn to supporting independent media outlets that are driven to tell relevant stories that meet the needs of their communities.
If I ever give a TED Talk, it will be about my drive to understand my audience and deliver what’s needed in every interaction I have, whether that’s an email that facilitates a decision, a framework for deciding how to deploy a limited budget, or encouragement to a coworker having a rough day. I love to help people, I love to solve problems, I love to learn and teach, and I love to put tools into hands that need them. I’m not satisfied with leaving necessary things undone, even if I don’t own them. I’m also conscientious, experienced, self-directed, speedy, and easy to work with. I have a passion for efficient, effective communication, and my soft skills are exceptional.
