Steve Layman
@stevelayman
Senior SDET at Scalable Commerce who replaced manual regression with Playwright automation and release-gating CI/CD pipelines.
What I'm looking for
At Scalable Commerce, I built the QA function from scratch as the first and sole QA engineer, owning quality end to end in a low-confidence release environment.
I implemented UI and integration test automation and created a scalable Playwright end-to-end framework that eliminated reliance on manual regression testing. I also connected automated suites to TeamCity pipelines so tests gate every release.
At Ontraport, I led test strategy and automation for platform initiatives, working with product and engineering on acceptance criteria. As QA Manager, I led a team of seven and transformed multi-week regression cycles into automated releases of about one hour.
Earlier at Ontraport, I progressed from technical support into QA, contributing to test planning, defect analysis, release validation, and early Selenium automation. I’m looking for a senior individual-contributor role where I can own quality end to end and set a team’s automation, coverage, and release-gate practices.
