Simone Pezzatini

I am a cognitive neuroscientist with a Master of Science degree, graduating summa cum laude from Sapienza University of Rome. My academic journey has been marked by a deep engagement with fMRI neuroimaging and Virtual Reality paradigms, where I have developed a strong foundation in advanced data analysis and sensorimotor research. My thesis, titled “Recognition of Own Hand Dynamics through Virtual Reality,” explored the intricate influence of kinematic cues and gesture categories on perception, showcasing my ability to merge theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

Throughout my research experience at the Santa Lucia Foundation IRCCS, I have successfully developed fMRI neuroimaging protocols and conducted extensive data analysis using MATLAB. I contributed to innovative projects such as the “Immersive Virtual Reality Treatment of Unilateral Spatial Neglect due to Stroke,” where I designed and implemented rehabilitation protocols that leverage immersive VR technologies. My passion for understanding the neural mechanisms underlying perception and action drives my eagerness to pursue doctoral studies in this fascinating field.
