At New Jersey Institute of Technology, I’m an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and Director and co-founder of the Center for Quantum Information Science and Engineering. My research connects numerical methods, atmospheric modeling, and quantum information science.
I co-developed the Nonhydrostatic Unified Model of the Atmosphere (NUMA), a model for numerical weather prediction. At Barcelona Supercomputing Center, I worked on dynamic stabilization of finite elements for numerical weather prediction.
I’m the main architect of Jexpresso, a Julia-language multi-solver for conservation laws and some types of kinetic equations. I’ve also co-developed ClimateMachine, an open-source code for atmospheric simulations on GPUs and CPUs.
My work includes tsunami numerical modeling at Stanford University and dynamical core implementation during my visiting appointment with the Climate Modeling Alliance at California Institute of Technology. I also serve as an Associate Editor for Q. J. Roy. Meteorol. Soc. and a Topical Editor for Geosci. Model Develop.
