Samuel Ampedu
@samuelampedu
Earth Science student applying field mapping, stratigraphic correlation, and structural geology for mining and geotechnical internships.
What I'm looking for
I’m a motivated and detail-oriented L300 Earth Science student at the University of Ghana with a strong academic foundation in geological principles, field mapping, stratigraphic correlation, and structural geology. I’m driven to apply what I’ve learned in a real setting, building practical skills through an internship or entry-level role in the mining and geotechnical sector.
In my field experience, I completed a one-week field mapping project analyzing sedimentary basin structures and rock formation, including mapping and correlating six distinct rock units to construct a stratigraphic column. I’ve also gained hands-on industry exposure through integrated field trips—observing active quarrying operations at Shai Hills, studying small-scale granite production, and participating in geophysical data acquisition—so I can connect field observations to geological interpretation and mineral potential.

Field Project
Takoradi
Apr 2025 - Present (1 year 3 months)
Completed a one-week field mapping project analyzing sedimentary basin structures and rock formation processes. Mapped and correlated six rock units to build a stratigraphic column and performed in-situ analysis to interpret depositional environments and potential mineral-bearing structures.
Integrated Field Trip
Twin Rock Ltd
Aug 2024 - Present (1 year 11 months)
Participated in a one-week practical industry exposure observing active geoscience activities at a quarry site in Shai Hills. Observed large-scale quarrying operations and studied site geology and rock formation context.
Integrated Field Trip
Gud Heart Quarry and Construction Ltd
Aug 2024 - Present (1 year 11 months)
Joined a one-week practical industry exposure in the Accra area to observe active geoscience work. Observed small-scale granite (gneiss) production and related geologic setting.
Integrated Field Trip
National Seismological Observatory
Aug 2024 - Present (1 year 11 months)
Took part in a one-week practical industry exposure to gain insight into active geoscience sites. Observed geophysical data acquisition activities related to seismological monitoring.
