Roshni Pydi

I lead horticultural R&D at Fragaria Pvt. Ltd. in Bengaluru, focused on high-value crops grown in indoor vertical hydroponic systems, particularly strawberry. I manage farm development, crop-performance improvement, and agronomic optimization projects to improve productivity and resource efficiency.

My work combines advanced vegetable cultivation, crop breeding, crop management, and controlled-environment agriculture. I have hands-on experience with strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, protected cultivation, field trials, tissue-culture laboratory operations, and day-to-day team and operational management.

During my Ph.D. at ICAR-IIHR/IARI, I researched incorporation of multiple virus resistance into male sterile chilli backgrounds in collaboration with VNR Seeds Pvt. Ltd. through the Prime Minister Fellowship PPP module. I work with virus screening, plant-pathogen molecular characterization, PCR, ELISA, DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, and breeding methods including selfing, crossing, male sterile line maintenance, and hybrid seed production.

I've published research on chilli virus resistance, molecular mapping, crop breeding, biofertilizers, and horticultural production. I bring more than nine years of experience in vegetable and fruit production, supported by Ph.D. and M.Sc. training in Vegetable Science.
