Rohan Kaurav

I'm a Department Topper at IIT Kharagpur with a strong focus on backend engineering, AI systems, and full-stack development. I enjoy building products that solve real-world problems, particularly at the intersection of GenAI, scalable backend systems, and developer infrastructure.

Over the past two years, I've worked on production-grade software in both startup and internship environments. At Edhana AI, I engineered a configurable Voice AI pipeline integrating multiple STT, LLM, and TTS providers, serving over 3,000 production calls with sub-0.7 second latency while reducing inference costs by nearly 60%. I also built analytics systems for monitoring agent performance, customer satisfaction, latency, and operational costs.

Beyond internships, I enjoy building end-to-end products from scratch. Some of my favorite projects include a RAG-based Policy QA system using Elasticsearch, OpenAI embeddings, and FastAPI, an AI-powered meeting analysis platform with automated action-item extraction and reminders, and a Placement Preparation Tracker built with Next.js, TypeScript, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. I care deeply about writing clean, maintainable code and designing systems that are scalable, reliable, and easy to extend.

My technical interests include distributed backend systems, LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, cloud deployment, and performance optimization. I work primarily with Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, C++, Node.js, FastAPI, React, Next.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, Elasticsearch, and modern AI APIs including GPT-4o, Gemini, and Claude.

Outside of engineering, I enjoy solving algorithmic problems (800+ LeetCode problems), mentoring fellow students, and contributing to campus initiatives. As a Co-Founder and Advisor of a technology-focused student society, I've helped organize events reaching over 2,000 students. I'm also passionate about continuous learning, open-source technologies, and exploring how AI can create meaningful products that improve people's daily lives.
