Richard Smith
@richardsmith3
Computer Science student and lab technician building software with Java, SQL, and Linux-focused problem solving.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Computer Science and Engineering student who enjoys turning careful problem-solving into real, usable outcomes—whether in a lab environment or through software projects. I balance strong communication and attention to detail with the ability to learn quickly and adapt on the fly.
As a Biology Lab Technician (August 2024 – Present), I support ten teaching laboratories by ensuring materials and equipment are ready for effective student instruction. I also manage laboratory waste disposal—including biological and biohazardous waste—following strict safety protocols and environmental regulations, and I provide on-call assistance during lab sessions.
Previously, as a Scanning Clerk (May 2025 – August 2025) with International Ministries, I prepared, organized, and documented historical documents, photographs, and digital media spanning over 100 years. I transported boxed files for processing and used software and functional hardware to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
I bring that same drive into my work outside the classroom, building projects like Sargassum Utilization (sustainable methods and uses) and developing WordSpark using C and JavaScript to display words at a set rate for knowledge comprehension and retention. I’m motivated by teamwork, effective collaboration, and work that rewards continuous improvement.
