I’m a civil and structural engineer with a career that has allowed me to work across Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and the United States. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects—from commercial buildings and schools to industrial facilities, grain silos, marine structures, and complex steel and concrete systems.
What I enjoy most about engineering is the combination of technical problem-solving and practical thinking. I like understanding how a structure works, figuring out where the challenges are, and finding solutions that are not only structurally sound but also practical to construct and efficient to deliver. A significant part of my work has involved assessing existing structures, identifying deficiencies, developing retrofit solutions, and helping clients and project teams navigate real-world constraints.
I’m also interested in the ways technology can improve engineering. I’ve been involved in BIM implementation, developed custom Excel tools to streamline engineering calculations and code checks, and worked with software such as Revit, AutoCAD, RISA 3D, ETABS, STAAD, and Tekla. I enjoy finding ways to make the design process more efficient without losing sight of the fundamentals of good engineering.
My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago and a Master’s degree in Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics from the University of Sheffield. My postgraduate studies strengthened my interest in structural behaviour, seismic design, and understanding how structures respond to challenging conditions.
Outside of engineering, I’m naturally curious about technology and design. I have a particular interest in high-performance audio and enjoy exploring the relationship between equipment, engineering, and the listening experience. More broadly, I enjoy learning about technology, understanding how things work, and finding opportunities to apply that knowledge in practical ways.
At the core of what I do, I’m someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, learning continuously, and working with others to turn ideas into well-engineered, practical solutions.
