Paola Zerbini
@paolazerbini
Backend software engineer building audit-ready fintech compliance systems and resilient payment microservices.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Backend Software Engineer with hands-on experience building financial compliance systems and payment microservices in regulated environments. At JPMorgan, I designed an audit-ready Dodd-Frank regulatory tracking system with inquiry throttling, retry logic, and guaranteed data retention—eliminating throughput-related production outages while embedding audit trails and access controls by design.
More recently at Gremlin, I built asynchronous webhook-based integrations with idempotent processing and resilient event handling across third-party boundaries. I’ve also led migrations to DynamoDB, improved service performance and reliability, and strengthened delivery through CI/CD with CircleCI, automated testing gates, and proactive observability using Dynatrace and DataDog.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Built asynchronous webhook-based third-party integrations with idempotent processing, retry logic, and resilient event handling to ensure reliable data sync. Migrated core platform services to DynamoDB, reducing retrieval latency by ~20% and scaling high-traffic workloads; also improved CI/CD deployment success by 20% and monitored production health with Dynatrace and DataDog.
Designed a Dodd-Frank regulatory tracking and compliance system with inquiry throttling, retry logic, and guaranteed data retention, eliminating throughput-related production outages. Architected a reusable payment microservice with Spring Boot and JPA/Hibernate to securely authenticate and retrieve sensitive financial data at scale, maintaining 90%+ unit test coverage with JUnit and Mockito.
Led cross-functional global project teams of 20+ members across Finance, Operations, and Technology on regulatory and wholesale payments initiatives. Drove a Waterfall-to-Agile transformation that improved delivery velocity and coordination across global release cycles.
