What I'm looking for

Seeking a challenging Software Engineering role. I value innovation, impact, growth, collaboration, clean code, and modern dev practices. Eager to apply full-stack skills on complex problems, especially for social good. Need a supportive, diverse team to grow with.

I am a highly motivated and dedicated Software Engineer, currently in my final year of a BSc in Software Engineering at Bugema University. My passion lies in building scalable, secure, and impactful full-stack solutions that address real-world challenges and drive positive change.

My hands-on expertise spans a versatile tech stack, including Java (Spring Boot), JavaScript (Node.js, Next.js, Express.js, NestJS), Python (Django), and PHP (Laravel, CodeIgniter). I excel at designing and implementing robust RESTful and FAST APIs, optimizing PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases, and integrating real-time communication platforms using WebSockets and Socket.IO. My experience at Carmie involved developing booking and payment systems, where I reduced server response times by 25% through efficient caching mechanisms and implemented secure authentication flows (OAuth, JWT). I'm also proficient with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, Firebase, and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.

Beyond technical development, my career is deeply rooted in leveraging technology for social good and community impact. As the technical lead for a group of 19 LGBTQ+ software engineering students, I've guided our team in developing vital, community-focused software like an Educational Record Management System, demonstrating my ability to innovate and lead under challenging circumstances. My commitment to collaborative and open innovation is further exemplified by my active contributions to significant open-source projects, including the BioConductor Core Team (developing GitHub Workflow Actions and an LLM for scientific paper analysis), Creative Commons (backend improvements for licensing frameworks), and OpenStreetMap (enhancing mapping tools and data management systems).

I thrive in dynamic environments that encourage problem-solving and collaboration, driven by a strong commitment to clean, high-quality code. I am eager to apply my diverse skill set, leadership experience, and passion for user-centered innovation to a forward-thinking team, just like GDIT, where I can continue to build meaningful software that makes a tangible difference in the world.
