Mutana Wairimu
@mutanawairimu
Counseling psychologist focused on trauma-informed, accessible mental health support and effective counseling outcomes.
What I'm looking for
I’m a counseling psychology graduate with a strong academic foundation and hands-on experience in drug dependence counseling, rehabilitation, and mental health support. I bring active listening, crisis intervention, and careful case documentation to every client and program I support.
Through roles such as DDT Counselor for opium addiction recovery and my counseling internship at Kenyatta National Hospital Youth Centre, I’ve facilitated individual therapy sessions, supported evidence-based planning, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to improve engagement and adherence. I also lead and coordinate group activities, ensuring safe, structured environments for youth and children.
I’m passionate about mental health advocacy and trauma-informed care—especially creating compassionate, accessible support systems within hospitals, schools, and communities. I also support learning and program improvement through outcome evaluation design and qualitative research (interviews and focus groups) to better meet community mental health needs.
