What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a team where I can build reliable ML risk models and production-ready data pipelines, integrate multi-source data, and ship decision-support tools. I value interpretable outputs, strong validation, and agile, reliability-focused engineering.

I’m a data scientist, machine learning researcher, and software developer with 7+ years of combined software engineering, applied ML research, and data systems experience. My current PhD work focuses on ML-based risk modeling, multi-source data integration, validation, interpretable outputs, and decision-support systems.

In my role as a Research Software Engineer / PhD Researcher at the University of Guelph, I build machine learning risk models and reproducible Python/R data pipelines for national-scale HPAI outbreak risk assessment across Canada. I integrate satellite, environmental, ecological, poultry, wild bird, infrastructure, temporal, and outbreak datasets, engineering features like land cover, NDVI, water, weather, roads, poultry density, and outbreak history. I also built a public web-based decision-support system for near-real-time outbreak monitoring and interactive risk mapping (avianfludashboard.ca).

Before my PhD, I delivered production-oriented backend systems and reliability-focused engineering in agile teams, including a .NET Core Certificate Authority system supporting 100k+ requests per month with 99.9% uptime. I’ve also contributed to ML research in 5G, edge computing, and vehicular networks, developing optimization and deep reinforcement learning methods for task offloading. Overall, I’m driven by building dependable systems end-to-end—modeling, evaluation, validation design, and software engineering that works in real conditions.
