What I'm looking for

I seek a collaborative environment where I can leverage my data skills to drive impactful insights and contribute to innovative projects.

I am a dedicated data scientist with a Master of Science in Data Science from the University of California, San Diego, set to graduate in June 2024. My expertise lies in data analysis and visualization, where I excel at transforming complex datasets into compelling narratives that drive decision-making. I have hands-on experience with various programming languages, including Python, R, and SQL, which I utilize for predictive modeling and data exploration.

Throughout my career, I have demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills, effectively conveying insights to diverse audiences. My recent work includes developing predictive machine learning models for a capstone project focused on understanding sleep patterns in northern elephant seals. This project involved end-to-end development, from data cleaning to visualization, culminating in a comprehensive report and presentation. Additionally, I have experience as a high school computer science teacher, where I inspire students to engage with technology and data.

Graduate Student Researcher

Allen Lab, UC San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography

Aug 2022 - Jun 2024 (1 year 10 months)

Created data visualizations of more than 20 variables, measured across ~1,500 samples from 90 stations over six years, capturing temporal, regional, and ecological changes. Generated a co-occurrence network from the same dataset using a supercomputer at SDSC, with ~4,800 nodes and ~54,000 edges, identifying new interactions and validating known relationships between microbial groups and environmen

Capstone Project: Elephant Seals’ Sleep: Time Series Model

UC San Diego

Jan 2024 - Jun 2024 (5 months)

Developed predictive machine learning models in Python (logistic regression, decision tree, gradient-boosted LightGBM classifier, neural networks) using ~10 days of high-frequency 500 Hz time-series data to understand sleep patterns in eight northern elephant seals. Led end-to-end development and documentation, encompassing ETL, feature extraction, model training, testing, prediction, results anal
