Mayra Valencia
@mayravalencia
I’m a foreign-qualified lawyer and paralegal with international experience supporting global law firms and corporate legal teams.
What I'm looking for
I am a foreign-qualified lawyer with a strong background in human rights law, litigation support, and legal compliance, and over five years of combined experience across private practice and international legal services. I hold an LLM in Human Rights Law from University College London and an LLB from Universidad INCCA de Colombia, giving me both a solid civil law foundation and exposure to common law systems.
Professionally, I have worked as a paralegal and legal analyst with global legal service providers and leading international law firms, including Linklaters, Integreon, Conduent. Have done different training in Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills, and A&O Shearman. My experience includes large-scale document review and eDiscovery (using platforms such as Relativity, Canopy, and DXC), legal research, case management support, GDPR compliance, employment and commercial litigation, and contract categorisation. I have supported cross-border matters involving multilingual documentation, particularly in English and Spanish.
Before relocating internationally, I practised as an attorney in Colombia, advising clients on litigation strategy, contract drafting, agrarian law, and dispute resolution. This hands-on legal practice strengthened my ability to manage deadlines, work independently, and communicate clearly with clients and stakeholders.
I am bilingual in English and Spanish, highly organised, and comfortable working fully remotely with distributed teams across time zones. I thrive in roles that require attention to detail, discretion, and adaptability, particularly within legal, compliance, and regulatory environments. Alongside my legal career, I am deeply interested in international law, human rights, and globally focused work that allows me to contribute meaningfully while continuing to grow professionally in remote and international settings.
