Matthew Connor
@matthewconnor
Litigation liaison and senior case manager specializing in foreclosure and compliance.
What I'm looking for
I currently serve as a Litigation Liaison at M&T Bank, overseeing outside counsel handling contested foreclosures and other matters where the company is named as a defendant. I own the initial intake and referral process, then review and analyze each matter to ensure the right next steps—escalating issues to management when appropriate. I also follow matters through to conclusion, keeping cases moving while preserving quality and accountability.
A core part of my work is managing HOA delinquency matters involving customers, ensuring they’re handled consistently and to completion. I’ve also testified as a witness in various types of legal proceedings, bringing clarity and confidence to sensitive, fact-based situations. Beyond day-to-day operations, I contribute to special projects such as scrubs of incoming servicer-transfer files to improve accuracy and readiness.
Previously, I was a Senior Case Manager at Ocwen (formerly GMAC Mortgage) from September 2012 to June 2019, promoted from Case Manager to Senior Case Manager in June 2016. In that role, I provided guidance and leadership to my team while overseeing outside counsel for contested foreclosures, contested evictions, code violations, and title curative actions. I delivered analysis and reports of incidents, trends, and process gaps to support management’s decision-making and continuous improvement.
I’m especially proud of my focus on regulatory compliance—where I analyzed and ascertained compliance issues through special projects. Across both roles, I bring a disciplined, outcomes-oriented approach: take ownership early, understand the facts quickly, manage the legal workstream effectively, and escalate risk in time to protect results.
