Mati Shemoelof

I write, curate, and present research on Mizrahi-Jewish history, literature, culture, and diaspora from Berlin. My work traces identities between the Middle East, Israel, and Europe.

I've published twelve books across poetry, prose, essays, and drama, including An Eruption from the East. My forthcoming essay collection Fünfzehn Narben addresses politics, poetry, identity, migration, and belonging from a Mizrahi perspective.

I initiated and co-edited Echoing Identities: The Third Generation Writes Mizrahi, and my work has appeared in the catalogue of the Jewish Museum Hohenems. Since 2022, I've worked as a museum guide at the Jewish Museum Berlin and have spoken at academic conferences in Berlin, Leipzig, and Venice.
