Marcelo Alvarado Meza
@marceloalvaradomeza
Economics researcher at the University of Lima who upgraded the Financial Vulnerability Index to a dynamic model.
What I'm looking for
At the University of Lima’s Economic, Financial and Social Observatory, I prepared financial and microfinance reports on stress, vulnerability, and key ratios of financial institutions. I also estimated quarterly exchange rates using econometric models.
I upgraded the Financial Vulnerability Index from static PCA weighting to a Dynamic Factor Model. I also led the methodological design, data management, and calculation of the University of Lima Multidimensional Poverty Index using ENAHO microdata.
As an Undergraduate Intern at the Observatory, I wrote Python code to extract and structure financial institution indicators from SBS portals. I also automated macroeconomic report price charts in Excel, reducing preparation time from 40 minutes to 1 minute.
At the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Funds (SBS), where I’m currently a Graduate Intern in the Logistics Department, I contributed Python and OCR automations for procurement uploads to SEACE. I also created the department’s first dynamic control dashboard and developed Copilot agents to support document review.
