Lydia Dipaola
@lydiadipaola
I build machine-learning and geospatial workflows for weather and environmental decisions.
What I'm looking for
I've built reproducible environmental data workflows at the University of New Orleans, supporting a $21 million shoreline protection project with Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Using satellite imagery, field data, GIS, and statistical modeling, I quantified shoreline change and developed a Change Polygon Approach to compare coastal change across annual, cumulative, and storm-event timescales.
I've also developed supervised machine-learning models with NOAA data to predict high-impact weather events and coastal water levels. My work combines Python, SQL, R, geospatial analytics, remote sensing, feature engineering, model validation, and scientific communication, and has been supported by a $10,000 NASA/NOAA-funded fellowship and a peer-reviewed publication.
