At Medical University of South Caroline, I developed an internal utilization management nursing role with the assistance of the UM Director. I partnered with the Nursing Informatics team to build an EPIC status board and develop the workflow policy and orientation process.
My work has included reviewing surgical authorizations and documentation, collaborating with surgeons and physician advisors, and completing medical necessity reviews in EPIC using InterQual. At Aetna, I conducted quality and documentation audits, identified recurring gaps, and developed education for clinical staff.
