I've spent nearly two decades with the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, analyzing biological evidence for alcohol and controlled substances and preparing Certificates of Analysis for legal proceedings.
As lead scientist for gas chromatography, gas chromatography mass selective detector, and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometer, I've trained junior scientists in toxicology laboratory SOPs and testified in court as an expert witness when needed.
Earlier, I worked at the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center analyzing marijuana and controlled-substance evidence. I also volunteered more than 2,000 hours with Virginia Beach EMS and developed a fingerprint DNA procedure that was incorporated into the Rhode Island Forensic Biology Laboratory's SOP.
