Jessica Okocha

My undergraduate research at University of Delta, Agbor, evaluated the antibacterial activity of Tetrapleura tetraptera leaf and stem bark extracts against urinary tract pathogens. The extracts inhibited the growth of selected bacterial isolates.

I conducted phytochemical screening for the project, which contributed to a publication in the Nigerian Journal of Biotechnology. The research also included comparative phytochemical and GC-MS analysis of Tetrapleura tetraptera stem and leaf ethanolic extracts.

At Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory, University of Benin, I assisted postgraduate researchers with field and laboratory investigations. I participated in data collection, measurements, and documentation while applying Good Laboratory Practice and laboratory safety procedures.

As an Academic Tutor, I lecture final-year students in Methods in Recombinant DNA Technology and Nucleotide Sequence Analysis. I also work as a Scientific Writer, assisting students with research proposals and reports, and providing guidance on research methodology and data analysis.
