Ivan Roberto Kawaminami Garcia
@ivanrobertokawaminam
AI cybersecurity engineer building ontology-driven LLM DFIR and threat detection.
What I'm looking for
I’m an AI-driven cybersecurity engineer with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, focused on applied research and industry delivery. I specialize in LLM and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) threat detection pipelines and ML-based attack classification, and I build automated Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) frameworks mapped to CVE, CWE, CAPEC, ATT&CK, and D3FEND ontologies.
In my current role as an AI / Cybersecurity Engineer at Loch Technologies, Inc., I build an ontology-driven DFIR system that enables automated reasoning and mitigation recommendations. I design LLM-powered pipelines to generate investigation insights, automate correlation across multiple security knowledge bases, and support AI-assisted decision-making for cyber incident response.
As a Research Assistant at the University of Arizona, I developed an LLM-based DFIR system using RAG pipelines to automate cyberattack detection and reporting. I built real-time ML pipelines for cyberattack classification (99% accuracy with ~4-second latency), implemented Elasticsearch-based ingestion and search, designed cloud forensic workflows for AWS and Azure logs, and trained 180+ Navy personnel in cloud security and incident response operations.
My background also spans industrial automation, robotics, and controls engineering—giving me a hardware-aware perspective on building reliable security solutions. Through teaching at Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and engineering leadership on control-system integration projects, I’ve learned to translate complex systems into actionable, testable work for teams and stakeholders.
