Ibrahim Hama

Completed a three-month U.S. practicum with a Chicago host organization, working at the intersection of technology, education, and community engagement. Currently leading a self-designed Community Engagement Project delivering hands-on Arduino and STEM workshops to high school students across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Designed and built assistive safety devices for residents' homes, using sensor-triggered systems that alert deaf and hard-of-hearing residents to emergencies through light and vibration. Contributed to the development of the first professional-grade Kurdish text-to-speech voices in both Sorani and Kurmanji dialects.

Led hands-on robotics activities with young learners, drawing on prior experience teaching Arduino workshops. Contributed international perspective and engineering experience to YTC's programming and developing plans to expand its educational model to the Kurdistan Region.

Oversee all technical operations, ensuring smooth and exceptional broadcasting experiences. Host of 'Future Frontiers,' a program exploring the intersection of science, culture, and innovation through interviews with experts and changemakers.

Coordinated a competition for Wikipedia contributors, honing editing, teamwork, and leadership skills. Held workshops and provided support to competition participants, and organized the graduation ceremony.

Completed the University Student Translator Program, honing translation, editing, teamwork, and leadership skills. Participated in focused webinars for Wikipedia Arabic translation, editing, enhancing knowledge dissemination, and source assessment.

Activities and societies: President of the AUK IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) on campus; Vice President of the Kurdistan Studies and Cultures initiative; volunteered for MEPS 2023 & 2024, Alumni Reunion 2023, Open-day 2023, ERPC 2023; served as AUK to high school officer in Student Government 6th & 7th cabinet, organizing events like Arduino: Unleash your creativity.

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, expected to graduate in 2027. Recipient of a fully funded Excellency Scholarship and earned 3rd place certificate in the ETE ERPC'23 engineering research poster competition.
