Gustavo Okamoto
@gustavookamoto
Security engineer using Rust for detection engineering and post-quantum cryptography, creating DFS for measurable detection quality.
What I'm looking for
I’m a security engineer specializing in Rust systems programming, post-quantum cryptography, and detection engineering. I created the Detection Fidelity Score (DFS) framework to quantify the signal quality of security detections and move beyond binary alert logic.
I designed and built Vortex DFS, a production REST API that combines real-time PII anonymization with LWE-based post-quantum cryptographic signing. I also implemented a crypto-agility audit scanner aligned to NIST migration standards (FIPS 203/204), and I diagnosed and resolved a live Tokio concurrency defect by root-causing from logs and shipping a fix within hours.
I actively contribute to open source, with merged contributions to the OpenTelemetry Collector and Elastic Detection Rules. I aim to build security systems that are auditable, constant-time where needed, and operationally reliable—backed by end-to-end ownership of infrastructure like Stripe billing, Supabase/PostgreSQL, and Cloudflare deployment.

Creator
Detection Fidelity Score (DFS) Framework
Designed the Detection Fidelity Score (DFS) framework to quantify the signal quality of security detections. Applied DFS principles to production detection pipelines to reduce false-positive noise and prioritize triage by signal confidence.
Open Source Contributor
Elastic Detection Rules
Merged contributions to Elastic's open detection rule repository used for SIEM and threat detection deployments.
Open Source Contributor
OpenTelemetry Collector
Merged contributions to the OpenTelemetry Collector, an observability pipeline for telemetry ingestion and processing.
