Guillaume Smith

I am an experienced Tech Lead and Senior Software Engineer based in Sydney, Australia. With a strong background in Python and data engineering, I have a proven track record of leading successful software development projects and mentoring junior/mid-level engineers.

At Ambiata, I served as the Tech Lead for the LUMI project, where I led a team of 2-5 engineers in the development of a wrapper around GenAI models, enabling the creation of bots. I started the project from scratch and provided mentoring and deep code reviews to the team. I utilized Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic), PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS (ECS, ECR, Cognito) to deliver the project successfully.

During my time at Ambiata, I also worked on the Atmosphere platform as a Software Engineer, Tech Lead, and Scrum Master. I played a key role in the development and support of the platform, which enables data scientists to experiment with new ML models in a production environment for real-time predictions. I implemented a Contextual Bandit algorithm and promoted best Python and general development practices within the organization. My technical expertise includes Python (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Alembic), PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
