Gofaone Montebatsi

I’m a BEng Mechatronics and industrial Instrumentation graduate from the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), awaiting graduation in September 2026. I completed six months of industrial training at Morupule Coal Mine, gaining hands-on experience across Control & Instrumentation, Surface Mechanical, and Surface Electrical departments.

During my attachment, I performed maintenance, installation, and calibration of Environmental Management System (EMS) sensors including O₂, CO₂, CO, methane, smoke, and airflow velocity sensors. I also supported troubleshooting and maintenance in the Control & Instrumentation section, conducted weekly calibration activities for chlorination plant instrumentation, and helped with installation and repair of online communication systems such as DDW switches and multi-pair copper communication cables.

I’m passionate about automation, industrial control systems, and process improvement, and I bring a continuous learning mindset to support reliable and efficient manufacturing operations. Beyond technical work, I demonstrated leadership as Treasurer of the BIUST Living and Learning Community (LLC) and as part of the organizing team for IndabaX Botswana 2025, and I built my final-year project (OPTIBELT) to optimize stockpile and conveyor belt monitoring and control.
