I've developed behavioural tools for welfare-friendly aquaculture, studying how coping styles, learning and stress responses shape fish welfare.
At the University of Glasgow, my PhD research examined individual behavioural variation in fish and its implications for aquaculture. I also collaborated with the Institute of Ichthyobiology and Aquaculture in Poland on common carp behaviour, morphology and brain development.
At UFMG, I contributed to research on native migratory fish genetics, reproduction and conservation at Três Marias Dam, and on pacamã larviculture, rearing and fattening. Earlier at CEMIG, I developed conditioning protocols to help freshwater fish avoid risky areas.
I've published peer-reviewed research on fish behaviour, learning, coping styles and welfare, and have supervised students, taught laboratory biology, reviewed manuscripts and coordinated scientific activities.
